Thanks for another great season!

Dear PCSC Families,

Thank you and congratulations to all our teams and players on another great fall season.  We hope our soccer players enjoyed learning the game and developed as players and teammates.  Thank you as well to parents for your time, and support. It does not go unnoticed and will always be appreciated.

As we close out the season we are informing all of our teams of winter training opportunities on our website.

We will also begin laying the groundwork for the 2020 Season.  Please find some additional relevant information below:

Believe it or not, we are already starting to plan for the 2020 season.  We have 2 asks of you:

1.  Please give us your feedback:

Our parent survey is live on the website at the following LINK.  Or just log onto our website and scroll down the left hand menu until you see Parent Survey.

2.  Consider joining our board:
Why do we need help?
The board is made up of parent volunteers from the community. Right now there are only 6 parents who have children playing for PCSC. The other half of the board have children that have aged out of the program. Some of these people are going to move on from the board as well. So that will leave many openings on the board. And as the age old saying goes, many hands makes light work! Not to mention, new people bring fresh perspectives and new ideas - which is wonderful for the Club!
What does it entail?
Honestly, the board has done a great job of spreading out specific duties to people so it's pretty organized who does what. For instance, I handle equipment and uniforms, someone else takes the meeting notes every month, another person handles sponsorship, etc. During the meetings we run through the agenda, review items from the League as well as Club items of focus
How often does the Board meet?
The Board meets once a month on a week night typically for 2-2.5 hours from Jan - Nov at the Elks Club in Portsmouth.
Outside of monthly meetings, what is the commitment?
I think the answer to this can vary depending on the role that you play on the board. For instance, outside of the months when I am working on equipment or uniforms just before the season starts, I don't have much to do outside of attending the meetings. Then before the season begins, when I'm in the thick of it, it can range from 2-4 (or more) hours per month.
What if I don't know much about soccer?
No worries, soccer knowledge is not required to join the board! I have only ever been a spectator of soccer...to be honest, that is why I joined the Board. I wanted to give back to the program that my boys are apart of but I knew coaching was not my thing.
What does joining the Board do for you?
This is a personal answer and probably different for everyone. But for me, I have enjoyed meeting and getting to know some wonderful people in our community that I wouldn't have otherwise met. I have also learned a lot about soccer and what goes into a club that is made up of volunteers. It has also allowed me to have a voice in some of decisions the Board makes for the Club.
Interested in learning more about the Board?
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or Claire...via email, via phone (603.512.1381) or in person! I'd be happy to chat, answer any questions you may have. If you know someone else on the Board, feel free to chat with them too if you want.
Have a wonderful week!

Fall 2019 Season Welcome Letter

Hello PCSC Parents and Players -
Welcome to PCSC Soccer for Fall, 2019.  We are excited for this up-coming season.  Below is important information regarding practice and game schedules.  Much of this information is also available on our website.  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Practice Times/Game Schedules:

The PCSC Fall 2019 soccer season will officially begin on August 19th. We understand that you may have summertime plans for the end of August.  Please do your best to attend every practice possible.  You will be receiving your team's assigned practice times, days, and field locations from your coach shortly if you have not already received them.  All teams will practice at least 2 times during the week, and games will be scheduled for weekends during the season.  Games are played from Labor Day weekend until the end of October, except for teams in the playoffs (U11 and older) who may play into November.

Pre-Season Jamboree:
Seacoast United offers a pre-season jamboree in Epping on Saturday, August 24th.  Participation is at your coach’s discretion.

Regular Season Games:
We do not have the regular season schedule but please plan on games every Saturday from early September through late October with the exception of Columbus Day (see below).  We will send out the schedule as soon as it is available to us.

Teams should expect to travel an average of one hour for away games, however, many away games will require considerably less travel time.

Coaches will communicate your game schedules.  Please remember that there may be last minute changes to schedules for practices or games, so please look for all communications from your coach.

Columbus Day Tournament:
PCSC is still finalizing the tournament. More details in the coming weeks.

PCSC Night at UNH:
PCSC Night at UNH will be Friday, September 27th.  More details to follow but this is a fun evening of tailgating and soccer hosted by the UNH Men's Soccer team.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The PCSC Board of Directors is a small group of individuals who perform a tremendous amount of work. There are many opportunities during the season for parents to volunteer their time to help this organization (lining fields, parent reps, coaching coordinators, etc.  Please refer back to our website in September for a list of volunteer opportunities!).

In particular, each team is required to have a Parent Representative. The Parent Rep for each team will be responsible for paying the referees at each game, planning the end of year team party, providing the weekly game highlights to the Parent Rep Coordinator for inclusion in the Portsmouth Herald, coordinating coach's gifts, and sending coaching communications to team members when needed. The duties of each Parent Rep will vary by team and should be discussed with the individual coach.

Thank you, and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon!
